Good evening!
I'm currently sitting by myself at a local wing bar, trying to sneak in a little work (my teenager is hoping to earn some extra cash for Spring Break, so I'm trying to take full advantage!).
I want to quickly share the approach I'll be using for 30 Days of Lists, which starts on Friday. Yay!
Since I've been swamped lately, I knew that completing 30 Days of Lists could prove to be challenging. I absolutely loved the idea of doing the entire project digitally and having it printed (check out Amy's awesome Blurb book from September), but at the end of March I really wanted to have the project finished and in my hands. At the same time, I also wanted to work on it in real time along with everyone else (Amy completed her lists ahead of time, then had the book printed).
Enter lightbulb moment.
Blurb recently launched a series of notebooks. YES! My plan was to create a 30 Days of Lists workbook. I could plug in all thirty prompts (when you register, you have the option of downloading a pdf of all of the prompts rather than waiting for them to be revealed each day), have the book printed, then just complete the lists in real time. So, I plopped myself down in front of Photoshop and got to work:
I used Liz's woodgrain digital paper and one of her speech bubbles.
The book arrived early last week and I was IN LOVE. The size was perfect (a little larger than a standard paperback book). Liz's woodgrain paper was gorgeous on the soft cover, too.
However, I made a fatal mistake. I overlooked the fact the interior pages were only 60# in weight. Each page was literally see through (I can't show you the inside pages until the challenge starts)! If I wrote my lists in anything heavier than a pencil, I'd be in big trouble. BUMMER.
After discussing the issue with Blurb's customer service folks they agreed to let me try again at their expense, even though the fault was completely mine. LOVE THEM.
My new book will arrive on Monday, so I'll be sure to share. Plus, I'll have a few days' worth of lists to catch up on!
Haven't registered for 30 days of lists yet? There's still time to sign up right here.
