Welcome to "it's friday, i'm in love". This is a new weekly series that I've had brewing for awhile, but I kept allowing life to get in the way. I love reading other bloggers' posts about their favorite things, so it's time I shared mine. Yay!
{online class edition}
It's not a secret that I love taking classes. I'm a nerdy kid from way back; the one who loathed summer and couldn't wait to go out and buy new school supplies (in fact, my mom looked ashen in Target today as we walked by the brand new back-to-school display - I showed complete restraint, btw).
Since I started scrapbooking a little over three years ago, I've taken every class I could afford to. While I've regretted one or two of them, I typically walk away inspired. Here are a few I've taken recently (or plan to take soon):

style files recorded - veronica jennings
LOVE! I just finished up my project for Vee's grungy/funky minibook class. I adore minibook making, but I really needed to shake things up a little style-wise. Here are a few pics of my mini:
I obviously don't follow directions well; it didn't occur to me that the subject of the mini was "personal style". DUH. I was anxious to use my travel Moleskine from my solo trip to Portland, so I dove right in. It's probably just as well, since I don't really have a personal style anyway! Take a look at the rest of my mini here.
I recommend this class to anyone who loves minibooks and wants to stretch their skills a little. Vee will be offering this class again this summer, so check out her blog for more info!

computer tricks for cards - jessica sprague
As a digital scrapbooking newbie, I'm always on the look out for ways to increase my skills. I'm also a card maker from WAY back, so I was intrigued when Jessica announced registration for this free (yes, free) class. I still haven't finished all of my projects, but I'll share them in the sidebar once I've taken photos.
Jessica offers a few free classes every year, but my favorite was the photo editing class that gave an overview of how to add framing and special effects to photos. Even though I paid almost $400 for a Photoshop class at my local community college, I find that I have learned much more taking Jessica's classes.

big picture scrapbooking
I've been taking classes at BPS for over 3 years, and I've honestly loved every single one of them. By far, my all-time favorite class was Cathy Zielske's "Me: The Abridged Version". This four-week workshop is extremely involved, but worth every single penny. The end result is (per the BPS website) "A 28-page 8 1/2" x 11" album, using custom-designed digital templates, featuring entries from A to Z about you and your life, complete with photos you select or take to illustrate those entries." Here's my "A" entry I completed last year (click on the image to see a larger, more clear version).
As I continue working on this project I find this album evolving, just as my life is evolving. So rewarding! Registration for this year's session just opened and ends on September 22 (the class starts September 16). Click here for more info.

big picture scrapbooking's big idea festival
Big Picture Scrapbooking has teamed up with Cocoa Daisy to offer the Big Idea Festival, a free 13 day- long parade of projects featuring Cocoa Daisy's July kit. Class starts on August 13, which means I'll have to take a break when the baby comes (c-section is scheduled for the following week), but BPS will have the class available indefinitely, so I'll be able to come back to it at any time. Now I just have to make sure I can keep my hands off of my Cocoa Daisy kit until then! Click on the BPS logo on the right for more info.

I'm beyond excited about this new offering from Leigh-Ann, Rachel and Courtney. As a self-taught "seamstress" (and I do use that term loosely), I've been wanting to officially learn a few more basic skills; this class is absolutely perfect.
Scheduling is an issue for me once again, since this class starts on August 10, but I'm seriously considering starting the class anyway since the private blog will remain accessible for a year. I'll let you know what I decide.
Have you taken an amazing class lately? Do tell :)
