I'm popping quickly to share a new shop item.

awesome ladies project | january 2016

In mid-January, my friend Kristin relaunched her popular Awesome Ladies Project challenge:

This year-long classroom and community is the perfect way to prioritize documenting your awesome lady life. Weekly introspective self-documenting prompts + creative catalysts = awesome feminist scrapbooking challenges!

I'm using this adorable 6x8 mini-album by Ashley Goldberg to house all of my challenges (the album was included in Kristin's Awesome Ladies Project kit, but it has sold out. You can still find a few of these albums here).

december daily 2015 | days 21-25

This is it, folks!

I finished my project before the end of January. Excited!

day twenty one

 Day 21 - I listened to Winter Songs all day long; it's one of my all-time favorite holiday albums.

Day 22 - Full disclosure = I had nothing for 12/22. So I snatched this 3x4 card out of my December Ali Edwards kit and slapped in into my journal :)

Day 23 - My husband took the little ones to the airport to pickup my stepdaughter for her holiday visit. They were so excited!

Day 24 - Christmas Eve! Sweet Michael was so very happy to have all three of his sisters home for the holiday.

Day 25 - Merry Christmas! We spent a quiet morning at home: our two youngest girls got sewing machines, so our oldest gave them some sewing lessons; Michael and my husband played Michael's new Skylanders game and I got busy with my Crafters Box project (more on that later). Such a great day.

 

I finished my project by using one of my favorite holiday stamps. I don't get a chance to use it very often, so I wanted to make sure I had a place for it.

december daily 2015 | days 16 through 20

Hey!

I'm back again with five more days of my project. As I mentioned last week I only have a few more entries, then I'll be able to show you a completed album.

day sixteen

Day 16 - Our oldest daughter (who moved in with her boyfriend a few months ago) sent me some photos of her Christmas tree and holiday decor. It's so cool to see her making her own way.

Day 17 - Remember how I was super tired on Day 15? Turns out tonsillitis was brewing. Ugh!

Day 18 - My husband was a special guest at a Dolby screening of Star Wars. He was beyond excited!

Day 19 - Our neighbors (who are also close friends of ours) had their annual holiday party on the 19th. I was still recovering from tonsillitis, but I had a blast.

Day 20 - I've been loving Olya Schmidt's new app, True Bokeh. I couldn't stop taking photos of my tree lights :)

I'm plugging away at my December Daily project. I only have five days left to complete (weekend goals)!

 

day eleven

 

 

Day 11 - Chick Craft Night! This is the annual gathering of my little circle of friends. Usually only two of us bring crafts, but it's always a fun time :)

Day 12 - Another movie for me while the kids were in school. Today it was The Family Stone. So good.

Day 13 - Another prompt from Listers Gotta List. Favorite holiday beverages. In truth, I just drink coffee year round! I'm at the point in my life where my system just can't handle the sugar or the dairy in any of the specialty beverages, so I let them all go several years ago. My in-laws and my oldest daughter gave me Starbucks gift cards this year, so I tacked them both right into my notebook. Super simple.

Day 14 - We tried out Playmobil advent calendars for the first time this year (we did Lego last year). The kids LOVED them. It was so cute to watch them get excited each morning. It also led to some creative cooperative play, which is always quite welcome.

 Day 15 - I was exhausted on the 15th. I had no idea why, but I listened to my body and went straight to bed after I put the kids down.

Happy Holidays! I hope all of you are having an amazing holiday season, no matter how you celebrate.

We had a busy, yet quiet Christmas; all four of our kids were under one roof. Awesome!

A nasty case of tonsillitis made for a rough week before Christmas. I fell behind on every single thing, including my December Daily. Now it's catch up time:

Day 7 -  On this day it was cold and rainy; the perfect day to watch The Holiday while the kids were in school. I can watch this movie over and over again!

Day 10 - Another Prompt = Favorite Season Decorations. A few years ago, we hired someone to put simple lights on the exterior of our house for the first time. it's still my favorite decoration. The lights are simple and elegant; I love them!

week in the life | 2015 | saturday + sunday

Hey guys!

I'm combining Saturday and Sunday in one post, as they were both low photo days.

Here's Saturday, August 22:

• My friend Renee and I went to Soul Pose in the heart of Seattle. We had a blast!
   

• I spent the rest of the afternoon at a local restaurant with one of my closest friends who really needed someone to talk to.
• Meanwhile, my husband took the little ones out to lunch. He was raving about the hummus, as it was the first solid food he'd had in ten days (he'd just finished a smoothie detox)!

Sunday, August 23:

• I just realized that I have 2 "title" photos for Sunday. I must have been conflicted about which one to use. I'll reprint the mug photos without the word art :)
• After breakfast, my husband took the little ones outlet shopping; Michael loves getting new pants!

• Within an hour of my husband and the kids leaving, I felt horrible (this happens quite a bit). So I ended up spending the rest of they day on the couch, which required a bowl of popcorn.
• After everyone returned home, we prepped dinner.

That is it, folks! I have one more post planned so I can share my title page and give a few thoughts about the project as a whole.

Happy Friday!

Here's my Week in the Life entry for Friday, August 21, 2015:

• Friday morning started the same way Thursday ended. The kids (Lauryn, in particular) played quietly for most of the morning.

 

• We picked up my mom and headed out to one of our favorite parks for Big Truck Day.
• The kids got to climb onto firetrucks, garbage trucks and other community vehicles. They had a great time!

• The kids also went on a wagon ride, which they loved.
• After the park, we picked our veggies at the farm and did some more playing at home.

We're in the home stretch; I hope you guys have a great weekend!

Hey there! TWO posts from me today... what?!?

Onward to Thursday, August 20, 2015:

• We spent a quiet morning at home. It was so nice to do "normal" things after having been out of town.

• It was Michael's fifth birthday! We celebrated with lunch at our favorite sushi restaurant. I'm going to have that large photo reprinted; I was experimenting with my Surface stylus, but I'm not happy with how it turned out.
• Costco!

• Dental check-up for the littles.
• We then headed to Target so Michael could pick out a small birthday toy for himself.
• Back home that evening where the kids played quietly for hours.

week in the life | 2015 | wednesday

Happy Hump Day!

Here's Wednesday, August 19:

• By Wednesday morning I'd had enough of the Starbucks instant coffee I'd been drinking, so ventured out to the Starbucks down the street.
• I grabbed an Americano for myself and an iced Caramel Macchiato with "hella caramel" (total Bay Area saying) for my oldest.

• Our flight back to Seattle wasn't until the evening so after we packed up our stuff, the little ones and I headed out for an adventure.
• More Philz. I couldn't stop.
• I took the kids to Fairyland; loved this place as a kid.

• While the kids played, I continued reading Delancey. My book reviews for September will be coming next week, but I'm pretty sure I won't be finishing this.

• It was finally time to head home after a fabulous, but long week away.
• Dad greeted us at the airport!

• Home!
• I settled in to catch up on Suits and to go through a massive (and fantastic) pile of mail that was waiting for me.
• Our oldest sent a kiss to her little brother (she forgot to tell him goodbye) and let us know that she was picked up safely from the airport.
